Through its lyrical shape, Chavela will take viewers on an evocative, notion-upsetting adventure through the iconoclastic life of game-changing artist Chavela Vargas. Centered around in no way before-seen interview pictures of Chavela shot twenty years before her dying in 2012, and guided by the stories in Chavela’s songs, and the myths and stories others have advised about her – in addition to those she spread approximately herself – the film weaves an arresting portrait of a lady who dared to get dressed, talk, sing, and dream her specific lifestyles into being.
